I just finished reading your book, Missionary Myth. Thank you so much for writing it.
I found your experiences at Mamou difficult to read... probably how others find All God's Children difficult to watch. Reading your account made Mamou so much more real; I did not want that to be where I grew up! After all this time, I can still be deeply impacted by the horrors we experienced there.
I also appreciated your history of missions.... it was very wonderful to put our experiences in historical context. It is one more way of removing the blame from me/us and placing it directly where it belongs - the church, church leaders, theology, greed and individual adults with the school.
Have you read The Poisonwood Bible? Your parents sounded so much like the parents in that novel. (That novel was a part of my healing journey.)
